Sure Sign of Summer
I got my first pedi of the year today. Living in California, I could wear open-toe shoes all year (and many of my friends do), but I still feel more comfortable in sneakers and socks during the “colder” months.
As a result, this usually lands me in a vicious circle when the weather starts to warm up, because I don't bother getting pedicures in the winter, but then I don't want show my tootsies until they're looking fresh and bright! At least I got them done before Memorial Day...
I don't know what it is about painted toes, but they immediately get me in the summer spirit. (I gave up on manicures long ago, since it would always take about an average of 5.6 seconds before I would smear the polish, no matter how long I waited for it to dry.) Of course, the 90+ degree heat wave we're having this week might have something to do with it feeling like summer as well. I'm heading to Ottawa tomorrow for a visit with friends and family, and the weather is forecast to be in the high 50s and raining. Sigh. The good news is that when I get back next week, my pool should be ready to swim in after such a hot spell.
Blog of the Day
Speaking of summer, Amy Grisak's blog, Living in Season, is subtitled “Adventures in seizing the moment”, and I find summer to be the best time of the year to do that, what with actually being able to leave the house and all... (I'm speaking from my Canadian perspective here.)
Amy also writes a lot about gardening on her blog, which is a topic I'll probably be writing more about this year as well, now that I finally got my tomatoes planted!
