I Like These Shows

Writer/producer/director J. J. Abrams has a real gift for creating action-packed TV shows that also manage to make you really care about the characters. I'm especially impressed with his knack for writing women who are strong, smart, and vulnerable all at the same time. Cases in point: Kate, the tree-climbing, sharp-shooting, heart-melting fugitive in Lost, and Sydney, Alias' superspy who can butter up a heavily armed guard in one of a dozen languages, just before taking him out with a well-placed roundhouse kick.

Starring the Best Ensemble Cast on TV
A plane crash on a mysterious island. Dozens of strangers with pasts they'd rather keep hidden, forced to work together to survive. Oh yeah, and a deadly monster running around in the jungle. Awesome.

Alias

Starring Jennifer Garner and Michael Vartan
Forget the love story. Season 1 is all about death-defying stunts in exotic locales, fantastic disguises and ingenious inventions, and Sydney Bristow kicking some serious enemy butt.
